Wearing Pink with Pride

Inspiration post from Small Red House: Pink at the Rink.

When my sisters and I were growing up, harassing and mocking each other was a past time. For some reason, I chose to make fun of my sister C's affection for the color pink. I don't think I had an honest grudge against pink. But she liked it and so I made fun of her for liking it.

Pink is for pigs.

Pigs are fat and stinky.

You are fat and stinky if you like pink.

Don't wear pink.

An unspoken rule and we didn't wear pink very much.

You'll notice I'm wearing a pink shirt in this early spring photo.

Pink is not for pigs.

It's actually a beautiful color. My lips are kinda pink and there are pink undertones in my skin. I'm pink and I'm beautiful.

I'm sorry C for mocking your choice of color. I know you proudly wear pink now and so do I.

Isn't it funny how kids get ideas like that in their heads? Good for you for giving in to the pink:)

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for stoping by my blog Joyfully Gray. I kinda have a thing for pink... it is a sweet color, pigs and all :)

The Dale Chihuly glass art is currently on display at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. It was so beautiful and L loved all of the colors.

I'm going to follow your blog now.

Sisters usually forgive us. The scenery in your photo reminds me of Colorado.
